Announcements

Interested in the National Junior Honor Society? Below you will find the requirements and expectations of membership.

NJHS have four fundamental pillars: scholarship, service, leadership, and character.

Students wishing to apply for NJHS should review the following information so they are aware of how their application will be evaluated by the faculty council.

Scholarship Per national guidelines, at a minimum, students must have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.

Service This involves voluntary contributions made by a student to the school or community, done without compensation or for personal gain (i.e. - car wash for your sports team)

Leadership Student leaders are those who are resourceful, good problem solvers, and idea contributors. Leadership experiences can be drawn from school or community activities while working with or for others.

Character The student of good character is cooperative; demonstrates high standards of honesty and reliability; shows courtesy, concern, and respect for others; and generally maintains a clean disciplinary record.

In mid-September, information on how to apply will be available; you must follow the directions completely or your application will be rejected. Applications will be accepted in September, decisions will be made by early October, and induction (mandatory event) will be in mid-October.

Your application is reviewed by 5 different faculty council members, they will receive the applications without names to be reviewed anonymously. Your application needs to be approved by 2/3 of the faculty council members to be accepted. The NJHS advisor is in no way involved in the decision-making process; we only pass the information to the faculty council. Once inducted as a member, there are annual dues, monthly meetings, service hour requirements, and other events you will be expected to participate in order to remain an active member. If you have any questions, you may contact .

Service Hours:

Each NJHS member is required to have 10 NJHS volunteer hours each school year. These hours MUST be earned at NJHS sponsored events. NJHS hours will then be submitted to for approval. Hours used for other clubs do not count; however, the hours do count toward service-learning cords and the civic seal at graduation. In addition, each member must contribute toward the chapter service project. When the project is announced, the required hours will be as well.

I encourage members to research worthy causes and get other members together to make a difference in our community! If you would like to organize an event, please contact me. The NJHS chapters at National Christian have the ability to positively impact our school community and community at large by helping and/or donating what is needed to help others.
